The Tale of Slin Rok An Mar

Unlike most female demons (as humans call the Tarth) Slin Rok An Mar escaped captivity before reaching her full maturity and power. She rebelled at the thought that just because she was a rarity, a woman, that she should be protected. She would not be a breeder for decades. Rumor has it that ten guards died when she escaped, although that seems to be myth as how could a young demoness overcome ten mature males who were what humans call 20th level?
As with most who live on Hell, life was a constant struggle for survival. Slin Rok fled to the borderlands where demons did not hold sway. As a loner whose main goal was survival she often struck first without any consideration to human concepts of good or evil, but by most human criteria she was evil. She hunted those with power and destroyed them and gathered their power.

Without formal education, or exposure to other Tarth, she gained the ability to shape “magic” on the fly. Soon she was considered a master of shaping. Unlike most of the Tarth, who perfect a set of “spells” Slin Rok always shapes magic on the fly. Each spell is unique, different to her needs at the time.

Over time her loneliness led her to contact the Tarth and she met Be Na Tarth, the self proclaimed “First of the Tarth.” When the Druids and Tarth fought and lost, Be Na Tarth and Slin Rok An Mar refused the treaty that granted Druids dominion over the weaker demons. This further branded both of them as “Evil” by the non-Tarth.

Over time Slin Rok and Be Na Tarth drifted apart. She was not obsessed with revenge against the Druids and the Demon Lords who abdicated. His obsession drove them apart and when she refused to join him he lashed out and struck her.

Myth has it that the battle originally was physical and to Be Na Tarth’s surprise she was besting him. He then invoked powers she didn’t understand. Drawing upon her skill with magic she tried to form a spell specifically to destroy Be Na Tarth, but the more power she drew into the spell the more it turned on her and hurt her. On the brink of death she surrendered.

The incapacity for Be Na Tarth to forgive is its own legend yet some claim that he must have still loved Slin Rok An Mar as she was imprisoned and by Tarth standards only lightly tortured.
There are rumors that a group of puny humans stumbled up Slin Rok’s imprisonment and freed her. Most consider this myth as humans would never be able to overcome Be Na Tarth. Others, the same who believed that Be Na Tarth still loved Slin Rok, feel that he intentionally imprisoned her in a manner that was easy to overcome, allowing him to convince himself that he had not forgiven her and was punishing her.

Regardless as to how she was freed, it is now clear that Slin Rok An Mar has returned to her domain on the borderlands where she does not entertain guests, especially the Tarth. It is thought that she has a few followers among the Tarth. Those who neither agree to the treaty with the druids, nor agree to follow Be Na Tarth.
